Steve made began his Hifi life by making his own equipment, having first completed a VACC auto electrician’s course and completing two years industrial electronics at the Gordon Institute of Technology.

Building speakers for sale from home, and for Brash's during the day, things slowly progressed for Steve.

With a little push (threat actually, from the local council, who advised working from home was 'not on') Steve opened a tiny Grovedale shop in Heyers road in 1974. (Many customers are still using the equipment Steve made for them in 1974!)
